The Board of CASA of Williamson County is excited to announce Marissa Austin as its new executive director. Austin brings more than 15 years of nonprofit management experience to CASA and will begin her new position on September 12, 2016.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are thrilled to have Marissa agree to lead this great organization,” said Board President Joe Brown. “We know her deep love of children and extensive community contacts will be invaluable as we strive to expand our program so we can provide a CASA volunteer to 100% of all kids who need us.”

As executive director of CASA of Williamson County, Austin will oversee an organization that provides trained, court-appointed volunteers to advocate in the best interest of abused and neglected children on their journey to a safe, permanent home.

“It’s an honor to join CASA of Williamson County – the work of this organization is essential to ensuring our children have what they need to live and pursue their dreams.” Austin said. “Every child has the right to a safe home and the CASA staff and volunteers are dedicated to making sure that happens. I am excited for the opportunity to serve these children.”

Prior to accepting the position at CASA, Austin served as the Executive Director of the Georgetown Palace Theatre, a local nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Georgetown and Williamson County by providing a venue for quality and affordable entertainment and educational opportunities in the performing arts. “While I have truly loved my time as the Executive Director of the Palace I feel a calling to help CASA in their important work of advocating for children. The Palace will always be home and I hope to continue to be a part of that family, just from a different seat on the bus.”

Austin’s community involvement has included serving on the Board of the Georgetown Rotary Club and Radix Ministries as well as an ambassador for the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce.

Austin holds a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts with a minor in communication an a master’s degree in organizational management.
