2018-2019 CASA Wilco Annual Report

The 2018-2019 year showed continued growth for CASA of Williamson County! Our 136 volunteers were able to serve 282 of the 424 children in Williamson County and successfully close cases for 105 children, of these children 42% remained with or were reunified with their parents and another 38% were adopted by relatives or remained with relatives permanently.

A #GivingTuesday CASA Story

As #GivingTuesday approaches, we want to tell you about Michelle’s advocacy.

Last year, CASA Volunteer Michelle worked on behalf of two elementary aged sisters to help advocate for these young girls to return to the care of their parents. As the case began, Michelle spent time visiting the girls at the home they were living in, visiting them at school, talking with their teachers and making sure she had a clear overall understanding of what was happening with them and what their needs were. In working with the girls, she realized the effect being separated from their parents was having on them.

Michelle then asked herself what the girls needed the most.  “Stronger Parents” was the only answer.  Michelle continued her advocacy regarding the sisters and expanded her focus to include their parents.  She continued to make sure the girls had what they needed, but also worked closely with the...

CASA of Williamson County Announces New Executive Director

The Board of CASA of Williamson County is excited to announce Marissa Austin as its new executive director. Austin brings more than 15 years of nonprofit management experience to CASA and will begin her new position on September 12, 2016.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are thrilled to have Marissa agree to lead this great organization,” said Board President Joe Brown. “We know her deep love of children and extensive community contacts will be invaluable as we strive to expand our program so we can provide a CASA volunteer to 100% of all kids who need us.”

As executive director of CASA of Williamson County, Austin will oversee an organization that provides trained, court-appointed volunteers to advocate in the best interest of abused and neglected children on their journey to a safe, permanent home.
